While the ‘Jhankar Beat’ trend fizzled out with the emergence of remixes in the 90s, it did spark a figment of imagination among the masses. Majority of taxis and rickshaws across India had ‘Jhankar Beat’ songs playing in the 80s for travelers. Typically drum beats and additional instruments were added to existing songs producing vague remix of beats while retaining the original vocals and music. Furthermore, if you’ve travelled in a rickshaw or taxi in the 80s you would be familiar with ‘Jhankar Beats’ which emerged as a legal way of producing low cost tapes without breaking copyright laws. At the beginning of July 2014, the song ‘Hangover’ sung by Salman was released, initially dubbed to be the only track that Salman lent his vocals to. This marketing strategy to sell music soundtracks became popular in the 80s. Sajid Nadiadwala, the Producer and the Director of Kick confirmed Salman’s musical offering by saying: In Kick, we have songs by four different music composers. But only one singer Salman Khan. Many music companies started releasing songs from two Hindi films on side- A and side- B of tapes. Also, the trend of musical duo music directors became huge in the 80s bringing in fresh new soundscapes to songs. In this decade every lower middle class and middle class home in India had a tape recorder playing songs from Hindi films.Ī number of music directors established a firm foothold in Bollywood in the 80s. This is a little hard song to play but gets easy on constant practice. Beginning with the translation of the words Every second the distance melts, In whose fire does the dew burn. Lamha Lamha Doori singers are Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Sunidhi Chauhan.
